Training with the best, using the most expensive supplement ever made? I envy you, Nate. But in a good, supportive way!
@nategreen03 Just read "I, Bodybuilder". Can't put into words just how much I hate you right now.
Nate,
Read the article and posted over on T-Nation. Any chance you're going to be involved as a test subject over the next 6 weeks?
Hey Dan,
Yep, I'll be a test subject.
-Nate
Uh...are you sure you read the article? It kinda closes with the answer to the question you just asked DangerDan.
"Oh, about the "plans" Tim has for me. Along with several advanced bodybuilders, I'll be spending the next three months in Colorado Springs as one of the test subjects for the second phase of the project."
Damn! Nate's Fast!
Good luck in Colorado buddy!
Thanks Brett. Should be scary fun.
But mostly scary.
-Nate
just make sure you are being honest with your audience, and honest about the results.
Thanks for the moral check Frank...
Don't worry.
-Nate
Hey Nate, I've been following along in envy of your success. I've been a client of CT's and he is a man of his word...the programs are always brutal...let's hope you survive! When did you submit that article? If it's six weeks from today..then I guess it'll be 6 more weeks of sub-par training...hope to see you during phase 2 of "The Colorado Experiment"....battle of the Avg Joe's. ha
Godspeed,
-Rob
Although I had a hard time following what said in the video because it wasn't closed captioned and wasn't giving a good clarity of sounds when "the guy" was talking during his breaks at the gym, the article was a very interesting read.
I'll be keeping my eyes open whenever I see Nate share more information about this experiment.
Nate, don't forget to take a before photo and an after photo once you do the six-week experiment.
Brett,
Yes I suppose it did indeed answer my question. I missed that on the first read.
Nate,
As I said on TNation, I'm skeptical, but also intrigued as to whether the program, both in the gym and nutritional, can meet the expectations. Hopefully it will silence all the skeptics including myself. Best of luck.
DD
Hi Nate!
Just finished reading the I, Bodybuilder article, this is very exciting stuff!!
Tim Patterson mentions wanting to make this methodology work for everyone, thus can you speak to whether or not the will use test subjects who use steroids and subjects who do not? That way we can see what differences there may be?
Thanks!
PS- Do you know of the three test subjects featured so far if some used steroids and some did not?
That shit looks straight up out of the mind crazy. It leaves me speechless. I think I'll stick to enjoying craft beers, cooking good food and my day job haha. Good Luck with one man... if it works (I'm sure it will) have a fun time trying to find nice clothes that fit.
I'll probably get made fun of for that one but that's just me. Seriously though that whole thing is like the Bee's Knees, and reminds me of the beginning of Pineapple Express... except with a lot of weights and protein not weed.
J.C.
Ben,
I'm 100 percent positive that no one on the program will be on anabolic steroids!
As far as I know all three test subjects are clean.
-Nate
J.C.,
I definitely don't want to be 220 pounds at 5'9". But I'm sitting around 180ish right now with a little bit of extra body fat. (Just check out the picture in my hiking blog post from a week back.)
So after this program I'll (hopefully) be around 195 and cut. And that's fine by me!
-Nate
Hey Nate
That's sooo cool! I'm very psyched about the program myself, but I'll have to wait another 6 weeks or so...
I made some sick gains usingThib's para-workout nutrition protocol with my normal training and without Anaconda.
Went from 211 pounds at 10% bodyfat to 219.3 pounds at 8% bodyfat in just a bit more than a month. And I've been working out for 19 years and have competed in both strengh contests and bodybuilding shows. Totally incredible gains at my training age. You can imagine how excited I am about starting the I, Bodybuilder program! :-)
I wish you so mush success, fun and just a fantasutc time as a test subject ;-) Keep us posted...
Nate, that would be an awesome accomplishment. I wonder what the effects of this program would be while integrating Kettle-bell training, sprint work, swimming, biking, running etc... I guess what I'm hinting at is how would this program and approach to supplementation work with becoming the most well-round optimally fit individual?
I don't completely understand the science behind all of it, but it would be really interesting to see a study participant (maybe you) after your transformation embark on a cross training program. Although you may loose a tiny bit of muscle due to the nature of cross-training, I bet you would become a freak of nature... merely speculation.
J.C.
J.C.,
Adding lots of endurance and conditoning work to the program would be counterproductive. The program is about priming the nervous system for maximal possible hypertrophy (motor unit activation) and then do some growth work to recruit the diffrent fibers, most of all the types with the highest growth potential.
This will be you ONE goal during the program. Adding other work on top of it will almost completely inhibit this process. So, no, you would not become a freak of nature but rather make only moderat gains - if at all, and enventually encounter severe problems recovering your CNS.
Hey Nate,
Great article. I've been on Built for Show for about 6 months now. You mention in the article how you wish you knew the information you are now and will soon be learning 3 years ago.
How does this affect the Built for Show Program? Will there be major changes? Have I been "wasting my time" in a sense the past 6 months?
I have personally enjoyed the program, and it has changed my body composition for the better. Thanks again for a great article and program.
Mike
Hey Mike,
The Built for Show programs will remain the same as I think it's a great program for beginning/intermediate lifters who need a good blend of muscle, strength, fat-loss, and athleticism.
Wasting your time? Definitely not.
I, BODYBUILDER is about rapid hypertrophy with extreme methods.
-Nate
Will you deload before going to CO?
When do you leave for this experiment?
What are your stats right now for bodywt. and bodyfat %
Hi Nate
For us who have to wait another 6 weeks or so until we can start the program, what would be the best way to train for us now?
I mean, would it be better to do an accumulation type of phase now or lifting heavy weight for low reps? Or would that be a bad idea because the program will be that intense and a preceding intensification phase would overtax the nervous system?
Have fun, Im jealous. Can't wait to hear about it.
Dean,
Right now I'm just messing around in the gym with no set "plan". My body will definitely be ready to kick it in gear once I get to CO.
Not sure when I leave. Hopefully a week or two.
I'm about 180ish but not sure about my body fat level. I'd say 9-10 percent.
-Nate
Sol,
Just do what you're currently doing. No need to over-think it.
-Nate
Hey Nate,
Thanks for the reply on t-nation! I checked out your podcast interview and JUST purchased "Standing on the Shoulders of Giants". Good stuff! Can't wait to listen to the audio interviews tomorrow. Quite tempting to get started right now, but gotta get that precious sleep, being an athlete in training...Man you sure are lucky with whole "I, Bodybuilder" project work coming up, but you've definitely earned it and have paid your dues to be where you're at, so congrats on that! I hope to one day be in your shoes or perhaps work along side you and other reputable names in the industry. Alright, keep kicking ass!
-Sepano
p.s. chucks and nike free's = badass
For now it looks like a biggest ad I've ever read. If that was true, it would be awesome. Still results are hard to believe...
I look forward to the program. Referring to a prior post and wondering the same question...
How will this effect "Built for Show" or similar programs that I refer to such as "New Rules of Lifting" and "Muscle Revelution." I have done some CT programs...like "Super Hero" from back in the day. Will it run along similar lines...will the workouts be longer (time wise) like most bodybuilding programs or short and nasty like we are used to?
...Anxious to see results! Good luck man.
Luckily to enter your blog and read your article. I have lots of feeling after sharing your blog. This blog makes me realize the energy of words and pictures. I look forward to more.
A great blog can give one person new feeling, let person get happiness, let person broaden people's horizons. I think so your blog that is.
