Pour the Perfect Beer

Comments 13

Beautiful.

Beautiful.

Peanut butter and jelly. Strawberries and chocolate. Jagermeister and gelled, spiky hair.

Some things are just meant to be together.

Case in point: beer in a glass. If you want to actually taste the nuances of the beer and bring out the aromatics, it's critical that you pour your malted, hopped, yeasty beverage into a glass drinking vessel before imbibing. (Read: pour beer into a glass and drink it.)

But, as any guy who's ever watched a crafty bartender pour from the tap knows, there is an art to the pour.

I may not have it down perfectly, but I'm good about 95 percent of the time. (The other 5 percent is reserved for those moments when I pour too aggressively and have to lick beer off my countertop.)

In this short video I'll show you how I pour the perfect beer. Cheers!

Nothing like a good beer. Just picked up a bottle of my favorite, Allagash Curiex. I've had this several times and it is really special. It's a Belgian style Tripel aged in oak bourbon barrels... Nate, if this isn't right up your alley I'd be surprised.

Cheers

Spelt it wrong, it's actually "Curieux"

YEP, that's how it's done... now pour me one Nate! ha... I remember the days when beer out of a can was good enough for me. Of course back then I was drinking for quantity and not quality. BIG MISTAKE! ;)

I still can't get that right with guiness then again guiness from a can or bottle is normally awful

Don't fear the head! I shoot for 1.5 inches. There's nothing wrong with beer from a can, either. The problem is you usually can't find good beer in a can. Look for New Belgium's Fat Tire or Caldera's IPA. Just remember to pour it into a glass or you get that metallic taste.

I enjoy my dark beers on glass as well the twist is that the glass in the freezer compartment before pouring and I very often add a scoop of Vanilla ice cream to my stouts. A man's float!

Great Article! I love all beer, but am especially fond of the local stuff down here in Southern Oregon. You ever tried any of the beers from Southern Oregon Brewing Company?

@G.M

I actually love some canned beers. New Belgium and Big Sky are two of my favorite breweries who use them. I also recently tried Old Chub Scotch Ale from Oskar Brewing.

Drink a Rogue Chocolate Stout - it will make a man out of you!

Does not matter how you pour, dump the beer in, can be fast or slow.
After foam is on top, because it will be, wipe your finger on your forehead & then swirl your oil dipped finger in a circular motion on the foam. Foam will fizzle away in secs.

Your welcome.

Dunno if you'll see this Nate, but how do you feel about porters and stouts? I highly recommend Black Boss Porter and Old Rasputin Imperial Stout. IPA's are awesome too. I'm a big fan of Sierra Nevada Torpedo.

Just added "Beer Wars" to my Netflix queue. It is a documentary about micro breweries. :D

Now that would be the right way to pour beer into a glass
